Formal requests and negotiated conditions

Combine politeness, obligation, conditions and clear reference in a professional message.

The rule

State the requested action, responsible person and deadline clearly. Use polite forms and explicit conditions without obscuring what is required.

ich wäre Ihnen dankbar, wenn … · sofern … · bitte teilen Sie … mit

A professional request should identify the desired action and deadline. Politeness should not make the obligation or actor unclear.

Konjunktiv II can soften a request: ich wäre Ihnen dankbar, wenn Sie … . Use consistent formal address.

Conditions and exceptions need clear logical scope. sofern and es sei denn are not interchangeable.
