Accusative prepositions
Use durch, für, gegen, ohne, and um.
The rule
Durch, für, gegen, ohne and um take the accusative. Check masculine articles and possessives especially: den, einen, meinen, keinen.
durch · für · gegen · ohne · um + accusative
The preposition controls accusative independently of the verb. Mark masculine forms especially: den, einen, meinen, keinen.
durch describes movement through; für a recipient, purpose, or period; gegen opposition or approximate time; ohne absence; um around or exact clock time.
Pronouns after these prepositions use accusative forms: für mich, ohne dich, gegen ihn, durch sie, um uns.
