Adjective and noun complements
Complete adjective and noun phrases with the correct case or preposition.
The rule
Adjectives and nouns select their own complements. Learn the whole frame rather than transferring a preposition mechanically from a related word.
an etwas interessiert · für etwas verantwortlich · Interesse an etwas
Adjectives and nouns also select complements; learn interessiert an and Interesse an as separate lexical frames.
Dative complements occur with adjectives such as bekannt and ähnlich: etwas ist jemandem bekannt.
Prepositional complements include verantwortlich für, abhängig von and stolz auf; their cases remain part of the frame.
